WNBA All Star Weekend was held in July in Indianapolis. There were a variety of things to choose from; however, the event was comprised of WNBA live an interactive meet and greet event, a 3-point contest, a skills challenge, and the WNBA All Star game itself. Since we were in Indianapolis, this was the first time a Fever Fest was held at the Everwise Amphitheater Which was a huge watch party that was hosted by comedian Deon Cole. This included a concert from G-Eazy, music provided by DJ N*ice, and a performance from Cedric the Entertainer.

At any rate, this was my first time going to WNBA All-Star Weekend and I am glad I did! I had a great time! I got to meet a variety of people including Dawn Staley, Marina Mabrey, Saniya Rivers, and Sabrina Ionescu. It felt like being a kid again! Some of the people I admired, looked up to, or just wanted to meet was in one place simultaneously. It was awesome! This gathering was highly anticipated, and the city of Indianapolis decked it out! Downtown including Gainbridge Fieldhouse and the Indiana Convention Center promoted and supported women’s sports from the past, present, and future.

Furthermore, I have decided to make WNBA All Star Weekend a tradition to attend for years to come. I am grateful that women’s sports particularly the WNBA is growing at such magnitude. As a kid I remember being a part of and witnessing the rise of the league. So, to see where the WNBA is now and the progress to come including expansion teams in Portland, Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia I am elated!
