Remembering Kobe: An Open Letter
We chanted as you walked off the floor in Indianapolis for the last time, “KOBE, KOBE, KOBE”. You could feel the love in that arena. Dressed and my purple and gold, I didn’t care if I knew a soul. I went to that game, by myself. I was going to pay my respects before you retired. I was a genuine fan of your work, your craft, your game. People from all over, fans, different colors, different races came to support you. Bankers Life Fieldhouse was packed to the rafters. Beautiful how you were able to bring complete strangers together in one place, on one accord, for the same reason…you. The world stopped yesterday and the days that follow will be beyond hard. You gave the world, the game so much. Thank you isn’t even close to enough. You will be greatly missed. I was reminded yesterday how valuable life is and how nothing is promised to any of us. I was reminded to live life to the fullest, as best I can. Most importantly, I was reminded to take nothing, absolutely nothing for granted. I woke up with a sense of urgency today. I woke up a little more focused. I drive a little faster to get where I’m going, I take time a little more seriously, and I’m cautious about the time I spend with the ones I love. To your daughter, others aboard, the pilot, family, and friends all affected by this tragedy, I send my prayers. #Legend #8 #24
